I wish I went to TV highschool where u get to show up ridiculously overdressed and the classes only last 45 seconds before the bell rings and u get 10 minutes of passing time in which to have deep heart-to-hearts with your friends
It seems like everyone’s writing about 2am. They romanticize it as a time of skin on wrinkled bed sheets, of hands and bodies on top of each other, sinking into the springs of the mattress. It’s either written about as a time of comfort because you’re with the right person or of desperation because you want to be. There’s always alcoholic breath and there’s always some distance to cover. I’m sick of 2ams. It always starts the same. People want others’ 2ams because they think that they’ll finally be honest, that they’ll finally knock down those last barriers, that they’ll finally be able to contact the person sitting in front of them. But they’re wrong. You don’t get to honesty because of the position of the moon.
I don’t want your 2am. People are always asleep or wish they were.
I want your 7am coffee. I want the lipstick that clings to the recycled cup before you throw it away. I want your 1pm existential crisis during every Wednesday’s lunch break and I want your 2pm office gossip. I want your 6pm relief on a Friday night because you’re home and you have Netflix and homemade pizza to look forward to. I want your 1am glass of wine because that’s how long it takes for this city to quiet down. I want you on Saturday mornings when you’re behind the camera and Sunday afternoons when you’re nose is in a book.
